The Department of Ancash begins on a slightly hilly coastal
strip and climbs up to the highest snow-capped mountains
in Peru.
The Huascaran National Park was placed on the World Natural Heritage List by UNESCO. It guards wildlife species such as condors, vicuñas, deer, puma, Andean fox and viscachas in its beautiful surroundings.
