Located in the Pampas of Palpa, Ingenio, Nazca and Socos, are the "Lines of Nazca". These 32 geoglifos resemble both marine and terrestrial animals, human and geometric figures, and cover an area of 350 square kilometers.
Ica offers beaches, thermal waters, varied marine fauna, museums and excellent hotels. The National Reserve of Paracas supports many colonies of diverse animal species, such as sea lions and coastal birds.
The city of Ica is famous for its countryside and variety of local wines, such as Tacama (www.tacama.com), Tabernero (www.tabernero.com), Ocucaje (www.ocucaje.com), brandies, and fresh seafood. During grape harvesting season, Ica celebrates the Festival of the Vendimia, or the Grape. Wine and cachina, a typical local drink, can be sampled.
"I have a theory it is compounded of cherubs' wings,
the glory of a tropical dawn,
the red clouds of sunset and the fragments of lost epics of dead masters,"
